Barack Obama: Not ReadyI have, in the recent past, called Barack Obama “The Paris Hilton of politics,” mainly because he is a media fueled sensation with no substance. However, I had no idea in the days that followed, that Obama and his staff would go on to prove me right; actually, they’ve also proven Hillary Clinton right. Let’s not forget Hillary’s charge that Obama is “not ready” to lead from Day One.

Mind you, when Michelle Obama put her foot in her mouth and told the whole world that this was the “first time” in her adult life that she was proud to be an Amreican.

I didn’t realize that her comments were nowhere as brainless as what was to follow.

And after the NAFTA disaster leaked from Canada recently, it was pretty obvious that someone in Obama’s camp had fallen asleep behind the wheel.

But he wasn’t the only one.

It was utterly stunning that Susan Rice, a Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Obama, went on worldwide television with MSNBC’S Tucker Carlson to defend him against Hillary Clinton’s “3AM ad,” which charges that Obama is “not ready” for that crisis in the middle of the night. The ad was smart, reminding us that at 3AM, we wanted someone prepared answering that call...

Ms. Rice, in her defense of Obama, makes one of the biggest slips I have ever seen in my life -

And there you have it. Susan Rice, working for Barack Obama, telling us that he is “not ready.”

Wow! That was MAJOR! At first, I laughed a lot and I showed it to some friends. But on a serious note, this tells us that not only is Obama NOT READY, neither is his staff. But wait, I’m not done! There’s more, and this gets even better. The latest comments from David Stringer, Associated Press Writer. Read on:

LONDON - An adviser to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama apologized Friday for telling a Scottish newspaper that rival Hillary Rodham Clinton is “a monster.”

Samantha Power, a foreign policy adviser to Obama’s presidential campaign and Pulitzer Prize winner, was quoted in remarks she later attempted to retract as saying in The Scotsman newspaper that Clinton was stooping to low tactics to recover ground in the race to win the party’s presidential nomination.

The Harvard professor is quoted as telling the newspaper Obama’s team had been disappointed with Clinton’s campaign win in Ohio on Tuesday.

“In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio’s the only place they can win,” Power is quoted as saying. “She is a monster, too — that is off the record — she is stooping to anything.”

Power issued a statement Friday in which she acknowledged the comments but said she “deeply regretted them.”

Oh. My. God.

This lady works at Harvard and she doesn’t have enough common sense NOT to call Clinton “a monster,” where is Obama finding these people?!

Overall, let’s do the math boys and girls, add this all up and what do you have? A candidate who is grossly unready to lead, reflected especially in his choice of staff. If this campaign is ALL we have to judge Obama on, since he has so little experience, then it tells us that he has poor judgement and is Not Ready just like Hillary said.

In these recent days, Obama and his campaign have given us a preivew of what would be if he and his staff were on the world stage. Do we really need another bunch of incompents making America look like a joke? Haven’t we gotten enough of that with Bush? In the words of Obama, I want “change” and by that I mean a president who IS READY.

Hillary Clinton IS ready.

It is quite clear whose camp your are rooting for... And yet point taken. Obama is increasingly becoming all about talk. And would someone please explain what’s his obsession with ”hope” and ”change.” Every address of his seems to be a bit of free publicity for his book. Would he please talk something concrete? Unfortunately it is quite clear that he may eventually come out on top in the nominations. McCain hopefully will rip his campaign apart. I do wish to see Democrats clinch the power (and there are quite strong chances that they’ll do so), but with Obama at the helm, I think not.

I think Hillary is out to destroy the Democratic Party. All she cares about is winning.

who says Obama isn't ready? He is ready to defeat first Hillary and then McCain to write history in US politics.

A strongly written piece and I second you here. The Obama campaign ran and is still running on media fuel. It is backing the all gas no substance candidate. As you have rightly pointed out his selection of staff leaves a lot to be desired for. Obama will stand no chance against McCain who would cream him. The same can’t be said about Clinton. Obama is a disaster for the Democrats.

The Obama-Clinton contest largely would be determined by various intangibles like image, charisma, personality and most important - experience. Clinton scores over Obama in every department.

Hillary has been a better senator, serious, substantive lawmaker in her political career than Barack Obama. She has worked effectively across party lines and she is the best person to head the United States.

Forget the run for presidency. If Clinton were running against Obama for Senate seat, it would be easy for people to choose Clinton over Obama.

Tina, do you REALLY think Hillary is the one out to destroy the Dem party? That’s pretty radical considering her lifetime of sacrifice and hard work to bring about policies of the Democratic party.

I live in NY, and this is where 9/11 had a huge impact, but Hillary was the FIRST to call on the EPA to test the air quality for emergency responders at the WTC; Hillary has worked tirelessly to give the poor legel representation by finding funds for that program; Hillary has worked across America to get healthcare for children. None of that spells destorying the party.

Obama, on the other hand, has seemed to ignore her recent attempts to unite Dems when she says they ought to run on the same ticket. Funny since Obama claims to be the uniter but isn’t even seeking unity in his own party.

Via Sullivan:

The reason so many people have re-engaged with politics this year is because many sense their country is in a desperate state and because only one candidate has articulated a vision and a politics big enough to address it without dividing the country down the middle again. For the first time in decades, a candidate has emerged who seems able to address the country’s and the world’s needs with a message that does not rely on Clintonian parsing or Rovian sleaze. For the first time since the 1960s, we have a potential president able to transcend the victim-mongering identity politics so skillfully used by the Clintons. If this promise is eclipsed because the old political system conspires to strangle it at birth, the reaction from the new influx of voters will be severe. The Clintons will all but guarantee they will lose a hefty amount of it in the fall, as they richly deserve to. Some will gravitate to McCain; others will be so disillusioned they will withdraw from politics for another generation. If the Clintons grind up and kill the most promising young leader since Kennedy, and if they do it not on the strength of their arguments, but by the kind of politics we have seen them deploy, the backlash will be deep and severe and long. As it should be.

Hillary is hardy, resilient, tough. She is a train on a track, an Iron Horse. But we must not become carried. The very qualities that impress us are the qualities that will make her an awful president.

She does not care what you think, she will have what she wants, she will not do the feints, pivots and backoffs that presidents must. She is neither nimble nor agile, and she knows best.

She will wear a great nation down.
